7 Steps to a Memorable Caribbean Honeymoon

You’re working hard to plan the wedding of your dreams. Your reward – besides years of wedded bliss, of course – is a memorable Caribbean honeymoon. You can’t wait to get your toes in the sand, and a drink in your hand.

But how will you choose which beach to unwind on after you’ve tied the knot? New Zealand? Or one of the 700 islands in the Bahamas as a honeymoon alternative? Let me steer you in the right direction. Follow my seven simple steps, and you’ll be sure to enjoy a tropical beach honeymoon that you’ll remember forever.

  1. Find your inner beach.

Before you choose a destination, make sure it’s the right one. Not just for you, but for both of you. Start by writing a list of “must-have” requirements that each of you thinks a perfect Caribbean honeymoon should include…be it a private plunge pool, a balcony facing the beach, swimming with dolphins, booze cruises, scuba diving, golfing or a vibrant shopping district. When you go online to book your honeymoon, have your list at hand, and use it to narrow down your choices when you consider different Caribbean resorts.

  1. Let an all-inclusive resort do the work for you.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a honeymoon planner? Someone who knows how to turn every day moments into romantic memories? You can even rent a private villa with a personal butler to cater to your every need. Another benefit? Since everything from meals to water sports is included in your rate, you’ll find it easy to stay within your budget. Even when your honeymoon is all-inclusive, though, be sure to take cash. Some resorts don’t have ATMs, and you should be prepared to tip if you leave the property. Factor all of this in and enjoy an affordable honeymoon.

  1. Get the lay of the land…and the beach.

Learn as much about your resort as you can before you even head to the airport. Visit the resort’s website to find out about its restaurants, pools, parties and excursion offerings. Since restaurants at Caribbean resorts often become “fully committed,” be sure to book dinner reservations for the duration of your stay as soon as you arrive. You’ll enjoy many memorable meals together, and not have to worry about last-minute reservations. Also ask the front desk or the concierge for a schedule of events and a map of the property. Once you’ve checked in, tour the facility (hand-in-hand, of course) to see where everything is located. You can make the most of your honeymoon once you feel at home at the resort.

  1. Stay at one, play at many.

Many Caribbean resorts allow guests to use the facilities at their other properties. At Oberstar Grand Hotel in Paradiso, on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, you can dine, shop, swim at the beach or lounge poolside at two other Oberstar hotels nearby. This fantastic benefit lets you get the most from not just one, but many all-inclusive resorts for one price. Check with your resort to see whether it has reciprocal facilities.

  1. Splurge at least once.

Even if you can’t afford the presidential suite, this is your honeymoon – so don’t pinch pennies at the expense of your memories. Pick a romantic activity that appeals to you both. Plan a private dinner for two at the end of a pier. Hire a driver for a day to escort you to secret waterfalls. Book a hot-stone couple’s massage at the resort’s spa. Get candles and rose petals sent to your room for a special bath just for two. The staff at your hotel will eagerly help with arrangements to make your stay a memorable Caribbean honeymoon. If you’re on a budget, don’t forget to add wishes like these to your wedding registry.

  1. Get to know the hotel staff.

When you swim up to the bar for a rum punch, introduce yourself to the bartender. Odds are that he’ll remember you – and have your drinks waiting for you the next time he sees you. Make friends with the “Playmakers,” the entertainers who organize fun at Sandals and other resorts, and you’ll never be the odd man (or woman) out if your spouse goes deep-sea fishing and you choose to stay alone on the beach. Bottom line? The people who work at resorts are there to make sure you have a great time, and if they know you, it’s that much easier for them to do a great job.

  1. Don’t forget to use protection.

Whether you’re sunning on one of Antigua’s 365 beaches or exploring the lush rainforests of St. Lucia, make sure you use sunscreen. You want to remember the great time you had on the catamaran – not the painful sunburn you got that afternoon. Pick up some bug repellent, too. Both mosquitoes and sand fleas love the beach, too! want more information/tips on Honey Moon then it is worth checking out: honeymoon.how
